I'm formally from Zimbabwe, Africa. Been living in the UK for nearly
5 years now. I'm what you'd call a late bloomer as I've only just
started mixing 12 months ago and now trying my hand at producing
house tracks. I'm probably one of the older members on this site, so
hopefully I won't embarrass myself too much.
I don't really have certain influences in my music, I just mix what
I think sounds right. But I do have to mention Playmaker, who does
remixes for the Stonebridge guys. He's been a great fan of mine who
does nothing but encourage me in my producing and mixing. Otherwise
I'm open to most styles of house music.

Lets start from the beginning, I have always loved music from a young age, mainly Blondie and Queen thanks to my mum. Then started getting into garage in my early teens as well as hip-hop, later on I discovered electro my first tape was ATB 9pm (till I come). That's where my love for electro house stems from I think, since then I have been mainly into electro house and D'N'B. I started mixing in early 2007 a mere 18 months ago, since then I have played at private parties in a couple of clubs in Brighton and house parties, but mainly for mine and my best mate DJ 'ToCo's enjoyment. He was the man who got me into mixing and since they day I first laid my hands on a turntable I have never looked back. Johnny Ice was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois USA. In 1983, he joined a breakdance crew. He left the crew in 1989 and moved his dancefloor skills to the Chicago dance clubs, where he grooved to the sounds of hip-house. In 1991, he got his first set of turntables and he banged hard house and techno. From 1993 to 1999, he went under the DJ name, FRICTION. In 2000, he changed his name to DJ KARTOON and embraced the sounds of progressive house and trance. Six years later, he dropped his Technic 1200s and got a pair of CDJ 1000 and changed his name to JOHNNY ICE, a DJ that bangs perfect electro house. Very active and energetic dancer still today, I think I've acquired
in all these years (some spent dancing on stage) a certain ear for
good vibes and for all the music that works effectively for a sweaty
dancefloor (no trendy hi-profile clubs here!)...Target ing the

My passion is for music "with muscles", mostly deep and phat house

Children in london playing infectious funky and uplifting house. I progressed to

kinda got out of music altogether between 2001 & 2006. In recent weeks i have
been shopping a lot and now redefining my style without compromising my roots.

I got into house music back in 1988 -89 and followed DJ's such a Danny Rampling and Steve Proctor and was going to loads of London based promotions EVERY weekend. I bought my first set of decks around 1994 and DJ'ed at various events over the years through a promotions crowd called Clubland Records. Eventually certain responsibilities hit home and I hung up my headphones for a number of years. That is until now, a change of circumstances and an opportunity to DJ at the Ministry Of Sound back in July 07 which re-ignited my passion. I mix all genres including Funky/Vocal House, Electro / Techno and Trance and appreciate a good chillout set after a heavy nite! I became hooked on dance in the mid 80's with 'Disco' and 'High Energy' when beat mixing was a new phenomenon sweeping the dancefloors and remixing was really underground, with DJ remixers such as Peter Slaghuis and Ben Liebrand pioneering the art. During the 80's & 90's I accumulated a massive collection of dance and disco vinyl. This is when I began experimenting with DJing myself, and did a few club nights here in Aberdeen.
These were times when it was 'the norm' for DJs to talk between each track. So beat mixing was a huge leap forward. I have not really done much more on the club scene since. However, I did closely follow the music scene through many genres to the present day. I went to the Winter Music Conference in Miami a couple of times in recent years where I rediscovered House Music and shortly after took up VJing and Internet DJing. Hey everyone, we have recently had a very successful launch party for FNUK - our new regular event. We are also very pleased to announce that the Brookes & Bown remixes of Brinsley Evans feat Sy Smith will be released on US label U-Phonic Records around 15th July. We are also lined up for some huge gigs this year in USA, Amsterdam and other European destinations so it should be a big year...fingers crossed. We are not uploading as frequently at the mo as we are playing radio quite a bit and working on our second release "Bass Power" that is due to be out around September time. Currently playing on Time 107.5 in London and should be at the Loft in Maidstone in the Funky House room for Euphoria.
